Our typical schedule is as follows:

2nd & 4th Sundays, 8:30 to 9:45 AM - Student Gatherings

2nd Sundays, 8:30-9:45 AM - Parent Sessions

3rd Sundays, 10 AM: Family Mass

Changes to this schedule are made to accommodate Christmas, Easter, and the end of the year and are detailed on the complete schedule, found below.

On the third* Sunday of the month (September-April) at 10 AM Mass, children have the opportunity to fulfill various liturgical roles. Roles include lector, greeter, usher, music, and more! All children are required to participate in at least one Mass. Participation means they have an assigned role. Children are welcome to participate in additional Family Masses as space allows. 

The sign-up for Family Mass is below and will also be sent out monthly. Please submit this form at your earliest convenience. We will contact you in the week leading up to the Mass you have signed-up for with complete information.

*The Family Mass in March will be held on the second Sunday.

What is a catechist? A catechist is someone who helps your child learn about and grow in the Catholic faith. They teach the faith, shares their own love for Jesus and the Church, and help your child discover how faith connects to everyday life. Your child’s catechist is more than just a teacher - they are a guide, mentor, and witness to the faith. They work alongside you, the parent, to help your child know Jesus, understand what the Catholic Church believes, and grow in their relationship with God.

Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children in the faith. Catechists are here to support you in that important role.

NEW THIS YEAR!

If your family is unable to attend a Faith Formation session, in lieu of making-up the missed lesson, we ask that you complete a Family Activity. This activity is designed to help your family pray, talk, learn, and grow together, rather than having your child sit down and complete “busy work”. Please complete the activity before the next time we gather together after your family’s absence! Family Activities are separated by month, often tying into the liturgical year and Feast Days. Complete information can be found in the document linked HERE.

These instructions DO NOT apply to children in 2nd grade who are preparing for their First Sacraments. All individual lessons that are missed due to an absence must be made-up and instructions for doing so are available HERE.

If you would like your child to complete the exact lesson that was missed, rather than doing the Family Activity, please contact Clare. If your child has 5 or more absences during the year, we will ask that specific lessons be completed and turned in. You will be contacted directly should your child exceed 5 absences.

Due to the changes in our make-up work policy, online access to the programs will not be as necessary as it has been in previous years (with the exception of 2nd grade), however it is still a wonderful resource for your family to have.

Word of Life Portal (Grades: K-1 and 3-6)

Similar to previous years, all families with children in grades K-1 and 3-6 have access to the Word of Life Portal. However, unlike previous years, you will not be automatically added to the portal. Should you wish to access the portal at any point during the year, find the invitation link below that aligns with your child’s grade.

The Search Begins & Envision (Grades: 7-8)

Video access for The Search Begins can be found on FORMED at https://app.formed.org/app/collections/919899. Online access is not available for the workbook.

Access to the online portal for Envision can be found HERE. This includes parent resources, a digital copy of the student workbook, and all videos. You will prompted to create an account through Thinkific, a partner website of Ascension Press, or sign into your existing account. If you are brought to a payment page, the amount due should be $0. If this is not the case, DO NOT pay anything and contact Clare.

The Family Life unit will be completed in the classroom during “special sessions” in November and March. Children are required to attend one session in November and one session in March. A sign-up for these sessions will be sent out in the weeks prior, as well as made available below. We will continue to use the Growing with God curriculum from Loyola Press, which is an Archdiocesan approved text that faithfully presents Catholic teaching in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner.  

With the exception of those completing the MEND/NOURISH boxes (2nd grade), you are not required to officially submit anything back to us until the end of the year. Please utilize the provided tracking booklets so you don’t forget what you’ve done! The end-of-year completion form will be available here in the spring.

General guidelines/expectations for what you need to complete for your chosen Faith in the Family option are provided in the tracking booklet.

For those completing Family Game Night, Family Book Club, or The Grab Bag:

There is a lending library of books and games in the Youth & Family office for you to utilize! Please stop in anytime to check out books/games. A maximum of two books/games may be checked out at the same time and we ask that they are returned within 30 days.
