Preparation for First Reconciliation takes place in the fall and preparation for First Eucharist takes place in the spring. Both preparation programs run under our Faith Formation program. All families who have a child preparing for the sacraments must be enrolled in our Faith Formation program. Children receive direct preparation for the sacraments in the classroom and parents participate in a special Parent Session that prepares them, as adults, for their child to receive the sacraments.
Any child above the age of reason (aged 7) and in at least 2nd grade is eligible to prepare for the sacraments. Older children seeking the sacraments are accommodated as needed. Adults (18+) seeking to receive the sacraments should contact Dee Papania at dee@stalchurch.org for information regarding the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Further details about this sacramental preparation program will be discussed with all families who have an eligible child at your Summer Family Meeting (which is required before registering for Faith Formation).
In addition to all dates required by Faith Formation, there are additional dates required of families with a child preparing for First Reconciliation & First Eucharist. These dates for 2026-2027 are as follows:
December 19 at 11 AM - First Reconciliation Service
February 21 at 11 AM - First Eucharist Mini Retreat
May 15 at 10:30 AM - First Eucharist Mass Rehearsal
May 16 at 10 AM - First Eucharist Mass
A printable version of this schedule is available HERE.
There is not a separate registration for First Reconciliation & First Eucharist. There is a space on the Faith Formation registration to indicate that you will have a child preparing for the sacraments. To find information about registering for Faith Formation, click below.
There is an additional $75 sacramental prep fee (per family, not per child preparing for the sacrament) that will be paid with your Faith Formation tuition.
